“Burtonesk”
I have met with Tim Burton through one of my favorite movie, "Corpse Bride" taken with stop-motion technique.
However, my favorite "Charlie's Chocolate Factory" from the other movie of this man is a truly excellent (subjective) interpretation of his story and his cinematic perception.
I can see his style and especially the music he chooses (Danny Elfman), the themes work in complete harmony. That's why I really like this guy's style. The color scans he chooses can be called "dark" colors by simplifying them, but I think the man has a palette of his own which is particularly useful in most of his movies. That's enough to make him unique.
He has a unique style in his films. We talked about the class discussion. The drawings and characters he created in the Gothic and Puppet style are complete "Tim Burton" style.
More distorted colors create different camera angles that distort our perception. In particular, the drawing consists of exaggerated extremely long or short characters.
The most interesting thing for me is the eye size of the characters. In general, they are always tired, frightened and have huge eyes.
Especially in the "Corpse Bride" Vincent, Emily and Emma's characters are the most affected triple.
For the Final Project, I thought, maybe we can make an event that is normal from a "big eye" to look like things that are distorted according to their own experiences. Of course, I haven't thought about a definite solution yet, because we haven't confirmed it with my group friends. After talking to my group friends, I'm going to improve my mind a little bit more and decide on how to look or combine it on a digital platform.
In fact, when we develop this project a little more, we can go to a psychological situation. We know that everyone has their own ideas and emotions so we can implement it in a setup that can vary according to everyone. I think we can create an "inner world" with distorted images, sounds, and complex colors.
