Trailer- Midterm

I've been trying to make a 2-minute trailer by shortening a 2-hour movie all week.
I had no experience with video before. I didn't do things like adding sound or adding scenes. It was a nice and fun experience.





  My movie is Oliver Twist (1948).
Originally, it is an adventure movie.
It has musicals, movies taken in different years, and a few cartoons.

I watched the movie several times. It made my job easier to choose the scenes.
I've made this movie as a romantic but a little dark.
In the film's original "the orphan child" in the foreground, but in my version "the women" in the foreground.
I think the scenes in the trailer should not be more independent than each other. We need to figure out what's going on. So I tried not to disturb the principle of "continuity" and try not to distort the film in terms of camera and light.
About music, I chose a piece of music based on 1940-50's jazz and a little piano. I thought it would not be too slow music because the events were going fast.



I used iMovie to combine the scenes. My computer didn't open the Premier program, unfortunately. I didn't have time to use other computers. However, the "Imovie" program was not bad either.

I want to pass out my story;
Nancy is a beautiful, single mother. He works with two men in a bar called Bill and Fagin. However, these two men force Nancy to do bad deeds. Bill's in love with Nancy, but she's violent. Nancy begins to secretly meet another man, but Bill's child sees them. In the meantime, Bill constantly denigrates  Nancy to her young child Oliver Twist.

We are in the process of finding ideas for our final project. This time we are asked to do a setup with a digital aspect that is different from the ones we did last time. In fact, I would like to do this kind of digital collage project because I like digital collage style. Of course, we have to consider this by adhering to the resources we have. For example, we can create a story on such human figures, standing in front of the projection, reflecting our own image. To my opinion; I think we can place two projections at the top and bottom. After separating the horizontal or vertical line on a wall, a person's eyes and nose; the other person can try something funny by combining his mouth and his jaw. ( or like this, an animal face...) I also like the light shows made with these shapes. It looks very different and a technological ornament.

About This Week...

Adding Sound The sound is the most important point in the movies. Actors' movements can become even more effective with the current music or sound. However, one of my favorite movie which is " About Schmidt ", begins as a silent movie in general. It's not a “noisy”, “distracted” movie. In the beginning, we can understand Schmidt's problem from his looks and attitudes. We can hardly notice what his problem is. Of course, ingenuity is the ability to capture the film without sound but this is the most "silent- close" film I've ever watched. That's why I can give it as an example. Lighting

This week, we did a "workshop" about light. In fact, the important point was the so-called "3 points light". In that way, we tried organizing three lights and taking photographs. Besides, we took pictures with different filters, using reflector and dimming for creating different types of photographs. I think this kind of activity is more enjoyable than listening to a normal lecture. I didn't understand how passed fast that 3 hours. I think that working in a studio environment is more instructive. Using light, we can give emotion to many scenes. The wrong light can ruin everything. So we need to figure out where we're sharp and where we can use soft light. Since we worked as a group, everyone tried to reflect their own style. Of course, it was not possible for the middle road. I, I like working with shadows, silhouettes and dark colors.
